Coloriamo: A Revolution in Clay Statue Packaging

Andreas Kioroglou's Award-Winning Design Fuses Art and Functionality

The inspiration for Coloriamo stems from the painted statues that form the core of the product. The vibrant colors and intricate designs of these statues served as the primary design elements, aimed at capturing the imagination of the target group. The packaging design showcases a before-and-after concept, emphasizing that imagination is the only barrier when it comes to painting these statues.

What sets Coloriamo apart is its high-quality fayans clay statues and premium design. A professional painter was employed to paint the statues with quality water paints, ensuring a superior product compared to others in the market. The packaging design incorporates a window box, allowing consumers to view the product while ensuring its safe transportation.

The realization of this design involved the use of E-Flute corrugated board and SBS 450gsm, with offset printing technology. The packaging measures 26 x 10 x 14 cm, making it compact and convenient. The design process was a collaborative effort, with Andreas Kioroglou leading the structural engineering and design, and GLYKOU RONTIKA contributing as the painter.

Developed over a period of four months and completed in February 2017, the project required extensive research. The team analyzed similar products and their packaging available in the market, using these findings to shape their design strategy. The most significant challenge was designing a window box and statue holder that would both showcase the product and ensure its safe transportation. Numerous drop tests were conducted to ensure the statues would not break during transit.

Coloriamo's unique design and high-quality statues have earned it a Silver A' Packaging Design Award in 2018. This award is given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise, innovation, and artistic skill, reflecting a high level of excellence. With Coloriamo, Andreas Kioroglou has indeed introduced a product that evokes positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
